| Peer to Peer Networks (P2P) are decentralised file sharing systems. Without any centralised control users can publish any files on the system regardless of copyright, legality, suitability or assurity that the file shared will not be malignant. The majority of files carried on peer to peer networks are copyrighted materials and/or pornographic in nature. So far this year there have been several successful court actions from the recording industry against users of these networks. According to the NSW's Attorney Generals office a Company may be found vicariously liable if they do not actively discourage illegal activities undertaken by staff using companies resources. |
